Large sculptures play an important role in defining the identity and atmosphere of an architectural project. For this project, a series of monumental seated figures was developed to complement the columns, pediment, relief decorations and symmetrical composition of a grand neoclassical building.
The sculptures feature classical seated figures with carefully modeled facial features, garments, hands, symbolic objects and throne-like seats. Their white stone-style appearance visually coordinates with the architectural facade, creating a formal and monumental entrance without requiring the extreme weight of solid stone or concrete.
Although these sculptures appear heavy and substantial, their main forms are made from high-density sculpting foam. This material makes large-scale production, transportation and on-site installation more efficient.
The production begins with the client’s drawings, reference images, architectural dimensions or 3D models. Our design and production team adjusts the sculpture’s proportions according to the building facade and the intended viewing distance.

CNC machining establishes the principal shape, while manual carving is used to refine the face, hands, fabric folds and decorative details. This combination allows us to produce large sculptures efficiently while maintaining a handcrafted artistic appearance.

High-density foam alone is not intended to remain directly exposed to outdoor conditions. For long-term exterior display, the carved foam surface must be protected by a complete reinforcement and coating system.
After carving, the sculpture is covered with reinforcing fiber fabric and multiple layers of compatible hard protective material. This creates a stronger outer shell and helps protect the foam core from moisture, surface impact and weather exposure.
An outdoor-grade primer and UV-resistant exterior coating are then applied. Depending on the design requirements, the final surface can imitate white stone, marble, sandstone, bronze, aged metal or other architectural finishes.
For permanent outdoor projects, the precise coating system, internal reinforcement, connection points, drainage details and anchoring method should be determined according to the sculpture’s size, local climate, wind conditions and installation location.
One of the main advantages of high-density foam construction is its relatively low weight. Monumental sculptures made entirely from stone or concrete can require very heavy foundations and large lifting equipment. A reinforced foam sculpture is considerably lighter, helping to reduce transportation and installation difficulty.
Oversized sculptures can also be divided into carefully planned sections. These sections are produced in the factory, test-fitted before shipment and reassembled at the project site. Connection lines are positioned to reduce their visual impact after installation.
Internal metal supports or localized structural reinforcement can be added where required, especially around the base, connection areas and anchoring points.
A successful architectural sculpture should not look like an unrelated decoration placed in front of a building. Its scale, posture, color and visual weight must correspond with the surrounding columns, steps, reliefs and facade details.
For this project, the seated posture creates a stable and dignified appearance. The flowing classical garments soften the large volume, while the vertical symbolic object visually connects the figure with the tall architectural columns behind it.
The result is a group of custom sculptures that strengthens the neoclassical identity of the entire building.
